Re: Christina's five questions for August 2023 Wed, 30 Aug 2023 23:09:50 -0400 Here are Christina's five questions for this month, August 2023, and my answers to them. gopher://sdf.org/0/users/christyotwisty/phlog/2023-August-Five-Questions.txt The questions ------------- > 1. What, if anything, do you try to commit (or limit) to an hour > per day? Commit: walking. There's definitely room to improve, but so far this year I've been doing better at it than I did the last few years, so I'm happy about that. Limit: screen time on the phone. This has been easy for me, since pretty much the only time I occasionally spend on the phone is to browse through recently-updated gopherholes and phlogs in tomasino's phlog roll[1] before heading to bed. > 2. Have you met your elected representative at the council, mayor, > regional, or national level? Did your representative address you > by name? No and no; I don't think I've ever had an 'elected', 'representative'. > 3. If you had the opportunity to attend any concert or music > festival, past or present, which one would you choose and why? I'd have loved to attend a concert by the late Mohammad Nouri[2], the great Iranian folk singer, whom I grew up listening to - my parents loved his songs and played them around the house often. I have fond childhood memories with Nouri's Songs of the Sun Land album, released a few years before I was born and probably my most favourite album/songs of his. Have a listen[3] with me? :-) > 4. What's the dumbest thing someone ever lied to you about? [ Not sure I'd call it dumb - feelings were involved, and humans are complex beings - but reading the question, it's what came to mind. ] That time an ex (gf at the time) took offense at my empathizing with her missing her dad when he travelled for work for weeks/months at a time, and proceeded to be very cold and distant with me and lie to me for days whenever I would ask if anything had happened or if I'd done anything wrong, leaving me utterly confused and full of self-doubt, as to what I'd possibly done that warranted her treating me like that. The best part? This happened on the very next days following the day I took a >800 km overnight bus trip (and back) in the dead of a cold winter to surprise her on her birthday. Yeah, fun times. > 5. How often do you declutter the electronic media and files on your > devices? Rarely, sadly. I don't have a proper backup and deduplication system set up on these machines currently, so stuff keep piling up and rarely cleaned up. I've been meaning to set up Restic on my machines, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. One of these days.
